Sol Creature Concepts

Ok! and here are the missing Sol Creatures now following the lune ones,
there still is two more lune concepts missing but i think i may take a break from concepting and finnish the Naramer level instead.

hope you enjoy :)
-(all names are temp names)

This is the Sun Llama (obviously it doesn't resemble a Llama that much, but that's kinda the idea of the game. It holds a Corona Lens in a mounting on it's back, these (and also gold) were a gift from Sol to his followers on the creation of the Temple of Day, just as Lune gifted her stone guns to her followers.

These Corona Lenses can be used in many ways and are quite frequent throughout out the game (see H'Rika) but they are mainly used to store the sun's light, the Sun Llama uses it to fire magnified solar beams the deal burn damage on inpact

Harvester Bird
Harvester Birds are native to Ilamenta Jungle, they are a terrifying creature and widely feared throughout the Eclipse world, they are approximately 5-6 foot tall with blood red rectangular feathers covering their huge wings, they have a heavily reinforced serrated beak with a large point at the tip.
These are used to forcefuly puncture a victim's rib cage in order to harvest the organs (which are the most nutrient rich part)

this drawing is also where i decided i was spending too long on concepts so you'll have to deal with a rough sketch :P

This is Sol's Final Creature, the Goliath, it is a huge beast measuring around 8 - 10 feet tall, the rupture in it's back pours out fire, it carries a large crude sword, that burns from being integrated with a Corona Lens.
the Goliath has the passive ability to slam it's heavy sword into the ground causing a ground breaking fire nova that deals damage top enemies near by.

the Goliath also bears the sacred mark of Sol and is revered among Sol's kingdom

And also, i'm planning to adorn it more, alot more, maybe some rough gold armour or bones or pelts or something, i'd like your input ^^

Cacti Shroom + 8 Pointed Cacti

Cacti Shroom Textured. I had the idea to make it sort of green since it's part cactus and all. Changed the thorns and made them separate objects. So much easier to work with lol. Anyways thoughts, suggestions on improvement?
EDIT: To add in I ended up remodeling it all due to that stupid vertex extrude I did that I thought was genius... found out the hard way -_-

Also the start of the 8 Point Cacti, still early development so feedback is cool on how to make it more better.

Cacti Shroom

Had a bit of an error with modeling the shrooms. I started modeling the wrong one lol, had the idea in my head to do the glowing one but I intended to do the Cacti one, so it doesn't look like much.

Here is the glowing one just for show.
I put the rocks there just to get an idea where to place different shrooms. Trying different textures for the glow ones. Putting this one to the side for now.

All work in progress so they look a little funky but hope to get them to look more pretty in the next post.

More Objects

1. Was thinking this for a light source, the circular orbs grow which can be plucked to provide lighting, but only for a certain amount of time as it isn't connected to its life source. Almost like a flash light needing batteries.

2. I got this idea from a fatality in Mortal Kombat where big bone hands grab the victim and pin them to the ground crushing them to death.
The orb is an artefact placed upon a stone henge with four stone pikes on the sides, when the orb is picked up the stone pikes latch down onto the orb with the hands of the person trying to take it, they absorb life force of the victim which goes into the orb, once done it releases the victim.

3. I was thinking for the mask, when placed upon someone's face it takes control off them, not sure about it but it was an idea that popped into my head.

4. This branch tree has vines that look like any other vine, but when walked through them they attach like glue and begin to let out a poison that slowly consumes the victim, almost like a jelly fish.

Environment Sketch Objects.

Objects for the environments, tried to stick with sketching things that would relate to Saltlands and Naramer.

Creature Update

I know it's not much of an update, but been having a bit of trouble with other stuff so been struggling to keep up to date with things.
Anyway, i'm focussing more on this critter at the moment, i haven't done much just incase there's any changes wanted to be made on it, but i'm liking the way its turning out.
Suggestions?

I also need a name for this cute little guy 8D.

Also been working on some outer envionment stuff, mainly the salt lands, haven't got anything to show at the moment but hopefulling during the week i can get something posted up.

Task List #1

Ok!
now we have been sort of working on whatever we please at our own pace until now just to gather some ground but now its time to start building the game from the ground up.

i have created a plan for every level now but they are missing bits and i need our artists to help me fill out these parts, this will include many concepts and then modelling of the chosen ones

and programming wise, our focus is the engine, i have just placed my new spell concepts for sol up (lune soon to follow) and the other issue is the re-vamping of our AI codes, they are a little messed up at the moment so those are a priority

here are the new tasks!
Programming - Engine, AI and Spells
Artists - Concepting Mass Landscape Objects

the artists do have folders containing referance images for each land, so that will help but overall use your imaginations :)

we will be building to project in parts, making it one level at a time
i have been working on Saltlands lateley but im also accepting Naramer peices at the moment
So!

Salt Lands:
a neutral land just beyond the border of Sol's territory, it is inhabited by ether sprites who live in a small village of wood, straw and woven tappestries. ether sprites have a miniscule power to create by a large group all calling it into existance, so they can make some complex things. (rarely)
im thinking things like decorated dead trees, carved stones, stacked stone piles.

but overall my issue is i need outside ideas, so i want you guys to think about it :) the style is islands of salt and some stone, with an ethiopian tribal theme to decoration

Naramer
a neutral land caught in twilight of the setting sun, with a looming storm on the horizon. the land was once part of a great ocean graveyard but recently broke off. It is a damp, waterlogged island littlered with skeletons and decaying remains of sea monsters where waterfalls pour off the side into the abyss
the island it lit by a a bright yellow sun with dark blue tints, there are some small blue-green seaweeds and corals, possibly yellow hints also, small yellow flowers?

there is a temple inside of Naramer inhabited by a race of sea creatures, the temple is sealed but will be opened when the enemy oracle is slain.
so we need to see what that temple looks like inside.
im thinking twisting caves and tunnels decorated with bones and coral and tide pools
some broken temple work with barnacles and coral attached, and it opens up to a larger temple.

http://www.marbef.org/m/images/thumb/2/25/Tide_pool.jpg/350px-Tide_pool.jpg
http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20071213142451/wowwiki/images/2/24/Pool_of_Ask%27ar.jpg

but i need a much higher output of work, so pretty much a big sketch sheet for submissions

So these are the new tasks. we need to get onto these asap and move the project forward, if we get onto this im sure we can complete this game by the end of the year. Steam is already interested, and Perth's competition isnt that dauntuing so lets get some moneys and become the next Interzone!
(without the bankruptsy)

Sarohnia Construct

Most likely Sarohnia's most powerful defense against the marauding oracles, the Construct is an artificially animated structure of stone, shell and a small amount of metal. fueled by a tiny spinning ether core, the Sarohnia Construct defends Sarohnia and the Shell Tower by firing bolts of raw mana, or merely crushing them underfoot.

basically its a stone structure made by Gambaro, the Neutral Oracle that walks around on its four legs, its "head" is a empty shell of a large Shellback, green metal bands are armour and they display constellations
the design frequently shows the downward spiral symbol (the glyph for ether)

And so the journey continues

Eclipse is a Concept developed by me (Michelle) in an experimental mix of game genres.
combining elements from RPG, Adventure and RTS game types. All combining with spectacular art, in-depth storyline, customizing options into a very unique game.

Ecplise's original version was completed in december 2010, it was presented to industry representatives, public and reveiwed by the Perth Independent Game Makers Initiative (PIGMI). our task now is to bring it to the next level and to the public ^^

we have a whole load of new ideas, lands, creatures and characters, features and gameplay aspect coming up so you'd better stay tuned ;)

im Michelle Osborne, i will be leading the project and probably producing the majority of the art, the rest of the team will introduce themselves as the project speeds up

be sure to keep posted, and comment or just check out whats going on with the game :)
more to come!
