Sol Creature Concept




Not finished yet but my arm is really cramping today so thought i'd just post the most work out of the concepts i've drawn.
I was thinking along the line of this being to be of the insect nature, as you can see i was going for a butterfly and pray mantis look.
I'm still hesitating to add more features but this is what i got for her so far.

Creature Concept

Quick creature that I came up with, I rushed to draw it since I'd thought about it for a moment and didn't want to forget it. I will think of a name for it and it's history as soon as I think of one lol. I got reference from a wolf and a cobra to keep it in my head of what it was. I did have reference to a Minotaur for the upper body but kind of stuck it to the arms and changed the body to more of a snake.

Sol Creature Designs

Here are some Sol designs i have come up with,

The first is this mammal-like.. thing :P
it's quite a low level creature and will be available at approximately level 3-4
it'd natural habitat is around the cooler edges of the H'Rika Desert region, it lives in small communities underground, illuminated by the large luminescent bulb protruding from its back, this bulb is filled with an unstable liquid fire that is used for illumination and also intimidation, if the creature is intimidated it can swell the bulb making it shine brighter.
although from time to time, they can swell too much and explode in a powerful blast, is it has been known to happen that when an intruder attacks a colony, the resulting explosion can destroy entire islands




And secondly is a higher level Sol creation, this creature lives alone wandering scorched mountainous regions, it is feared by many and is known by its horrifying call.
it burns the ground as it walks, ever pushing forward Sol's territory, the vertical halo of fire located on it's head is a direct representation of the sun's corona, it can fire a powerful fire arc that ignites everything in it touches leaving embers

Creature Concept 1




I call this badass Sabertooth, it has extremely fast agility when trying to catch its prey, often head butting with its skull a number of times until the prey can't handle anymore and just collapses from the pain, that or a sneak attack, where Sabertooth will use its massive two main teeth to bite into the prey's throat and crush it, causing it to suffocate.
Its razor sharp claws allow the sabertooth to latch onto prey being difficult for it to escape.

This creature will be found in wasteland or dry areas, resting on top of a high rock, or hiding in between rocks/cracks ready to strike a passing meal. Appearance consists of most of its body being skin which is a dark colour, only fur that’s on it is its belly area. The face is hidden by a skull that has fused with it making it completely hidden and covered, the black eyes act as protectors for the Sabertooth’s eyes from the sun, could say there like sunglasses. No one has actually seen what the sabertooth’s face looks like, so there’s a possibility that it doesn’t have a face at all.
The spikes located on the Sabertooth’s head and body are also made of bone but come out a dark colour from its skin melting onto it as they grow out, myths say they describe the Sabertooth’s age.

No one knows for sure if this creature is dead or alive, it doesn’t have a tongue so it can't taste what it eats but yet, it still does and it can survive out in extremely hot weather without water.

Presenting... Artist

Sup people I'm Luke Davis and one of the artists for Eclipse, I'll be drawing up concepts as well as creating models. I am at the moment just brainstorming ideas, got some thought for a couple of creatures and hope to post them up soon. Glad to be a part of the team! 8D

G'day everybody, I'm Liam Davis and I’m one of the artist working for Eclipse which I’ll be mainly drawing up concepts as well as modelling.

Right now I’m just brainstorming ideas for creatures to draw up for Eclipse, which hopefully I can get some posted ASAP.

Programmer Reporting In!

Hello all!

Well my name is Liam and so far I am the only Programmer for Eclipse we've got out eye on someone else so all goes well we hope!

But for the moment I am working on stabilizing the AI as well as other minor things.

We have some amazing new features planned that I will be working on, these include a new Portal System for easier navigation between Islands, Oracle specific abilities, a Save & Load feature and a whole new experience in leveling!

So for now I leave you with some amazing spoilers and hope to hear your feedback and suggestions in the comments below!

Landscapes

Ok!
here are the new Landscapes ideas i have come up with
just basic ideas with a list of possible objects and directions

and some illustrations to go with

SOL: Bloodmist Jungle
-jungle island of lush greens and turquoise with vivid red tints
-plants and fruits are coloured red - resemble egg sacs, ovums
-trees have veins that bleed when cut
-sky is a vivd red with a orange-yellow sun
-leaves and grass look stained with blood at the base
-very very overgrown
-large blood sucking parasites

LUNE: Ice Plains
-frozen wasteland
-faintly lit rim of light around the horizon
-land is a huge thin sheet of ice, partially see-through at some points where the snow has been blown away
-thin spirally trees with icicles hanging off
-igloos? polygonal ones - jagged, uneven and rigid - made from the same ice sheets to match the environment
-some sheets of ice have been stacked up ontop to form jagged cliffs
-cloudless sky, stars and an illuminating moon
-ether sprites wear inuit jackets?

LUNE: Necunopolis
-stone city scape
-very dark
-dark rough metals
-blue window lights
-shelled worm train - traho
-ether sprites live in trash cans or dumpsters
-humanoid papers, pillows?
-traffic lights = whilted plants
-sewers? under passages you can access?

NEUTRAL: Saltland
-salted dead land
-white and pale colours
-little islands
-salt falling from the broken islands
-little lake on one of the larger fragments with decaying jetty and boat
-a few huts
-bones
-little reeds and hardy plants
-occasional small dead twisted trees
-pale green sky

New Concepts!

New Creatures and Characters:

here are some Concepts i have been developing.

New Lune Creatures:
this creature is based off a humanoid-fox idea the gauge-eye is a temperature gauge and the tanks it is attached to are liquid nitrogen.
plumes of frost fall from it's tail and crest


this is based off a cat, the six legs and four eyes are exaggerations of cat's high senses, and the legs for it's nimble and flexible nature. it is very dark to emphasize its stalking ability



Eclipse is going in the way of a full storyline with interactable characters, so here is the first character concept

this is the [self-proclaimed] Ether Sprite King.
he is just a normal ether sprite that wears a dead oracle's hat and bracelet, he talks big and claims to be king because he says he killed the oracle and took it's powers(which isn't true) and is now worshiped as an oracle himself.

thinking of placing him early on in a tutorial level or something, on a non-oracle island

And so the journey continues

Eclipse is a Concept developed by me (Michelle) in an experimental mix of game genres.
combining elements from RPG, Adventure and RTS game types. All combining with spectacular art, in-depth storyline, customizing options into a very unique game.

Ecplise's original version was completed in december 2010, it was presented to industry representatives, public and reveiwed by the Perth Independent Game Makers Initiative (PIGMI). our task now is to bring it to the next level and to the public ^^

we have a whole load of new ideas, lands, creatures and characters, features and gameplay aspect coming up so you'd better stay tuned ;)

im Michelle Osborne, i will be leading the project and probably producing the majority of the art, the rest of the team will introduce themselves as the project speeds up
